Beagle Wisdom - Never Bite Off More Than You Can Chew
Dear Green Sage Page Friends,
I heard what almost sounded like a baby crying for his mother this afternoon. I went outside and our older beagle, Elvis, had lock-jawed himself onto the newer cedar fencing. He had apparently decided he wanted out of the yard and had assumed he could muscle himself to freedom by ripping the fencing with his jaws. Unfortunately, his mouth became stuck between the boards and he panicked.
In order to set him free, I gently tilted his body just enough to unset his jaw and he went merrily on his way like nothing happened.
Aren’t we all like children sometimes…always trying to bite off just a bit more, only to cry out when we’ve had enough?
Love,
Dusty

Poor Baby,
I hope Elvis is fine. Please give him a hug and a kiss from each of us, and Otis too.

Just got back from a Cards game. Elvis is happily cuddled for the night in my son's room. Thank you for asking about it. However, Ripley (the evil cat)...who won't share my office chair is very jealous...as is Suzi, the jazz beagle. Otis (AKA Godzilla)returns the hug but is patiently waiting for me to go to sleep so he can start his watch. He keeps the monsters away at night and then reminds me promptly in the morning to bless his food bowl. ;>
