Sesame Street Live: Elmo’s Green Thumb

Sesame Street’s buoyant, furry, red puppet, Elmo is showing kids how important it is to plant flowers and let them grow naturally in the new production of Sesame Street Live: Elmo’s Green Thumb. Joining Elmo on stage is his very kind sunflower friend, Sunny who sprouted from a seed that Elmo planted in a flower pot at home.
The storyline centers around Elmo and his friends who want to go to Big Bird’s garden where they can re-plant Sunny so their fine floral friend can flourish in the sunlight. But Elmo’s good buddy, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street’s fairy-in-training whose exuberance cannot be contained, takes matters into her own hands and casts a spell to make Sunny grow. The spell goes haywire and instead of Sunny growing, Elmo and his friends start shrinking. While Abby searches for just the right words to reverse the spell, Elmo and his friends go to Big Bird’s garden where they explore this world of floral and fauna and the earthly creatures who inhibit this world. Sesame Street’s characters learn lessons about patience, overcoming their fears and appreciating the role that each creature plays in the earth’s ecosystem from the delightful ladybugs and prancing butterflies to the grouchy beetles that scavenge the garden bed. The audience and stage characters learn these lessons together, which makes the production a virtual experience.
Besides Abby Cadabby, some of Elmo’s other friends who join him on this adventure include the insatiable Cookie Monster, the helpful Grover, the mathematical Count Von Count, the inseparable team of Bert and Ernie, the bi-lingual Rosita, the worrywort Telly Monster, and the curious Zoe along with the neighborhood’s biggest critic Oscar The Grouch and their majestic mentor Big Bird. The production allows kids to feel comfortable with the theater experience as they watch a story unfold before their eyes, and afterwards walk away with some vital lessons about how to treat each other and their earth, which they can take with them through their entire lives.
